WIFMCO 2024 Student Film Competition- Sponsored by Mike's Camera 
This competition highlights active student filmmakers who are Freshmen in High School through Seniors in College. Participants will follow the prompt given below and create a meaningful film that reflects their experience in the current industry. Films must also support the mission of WIFMCO. Films that are selected as winners will receive excellent prizes sponsored by Mike's Camera. Open to any Colorado based student filmmaker, student members of WIFMCO or any National WIFT Chapter.
FREE entry for any WIFMCO or WIFT student members. Non-Members $10.

The Prompt:

Your film must explore some form of women's rights, and issues, and pass the Bechdel test.


Perhaps consider including a source or cause for women's rights at the end of your credits if your film delves into a specific issue (i.e. domestic violence, gender-based discrimination, etc.).

Disclaimer: WIFMCO does not take any political stance, so winners will not be determined based on any agenda. We accept viewpoints from all sides.


Guidelines

  1. Films must be between 2 and 10 minutes long
  2. Films must have a female or female identfying writer, director, or producer. 
  3. Films must conform to the prompt given.
  4. Films must pass the Bechdel Test
  5. Films must not include any hate speech or violence towards any marginalized community (If your film is a commentary on that, then reach out to us, we will have a conversation and examine its approval!)
  6. You must be attending college or high school IN COLORADO to qualify or be an active member of a WIFT chapter.


Winning Categories:

Prizes vary from cash prizes to gift cards to equipment. (for gift cards and equipment prizes- you must arrange a way to pick up prizes in person)
  • Best Overall Film
  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Direction
  • Best Writing

Films will be screened in Jan 2025 at  Sie Film Center in Denver, CO  date and time TBD
